Musician, Big Star
Jody Stephens is the critically acclaimed drummer and original member of the legendary Big Star. When not on the road, he is the Business Development Director of Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN; the same studio where all three Big Star albums were recorded as well as influential recordings from ZZ Top, R.E.M., The Replacements, The White Stripes and many more. Last year he formed his new outfit Those Pretty Wrongs with Luther Russell of The Freewheelers. Their eponymous debut was recorded at Ardent using many pieces of Big Star's original gear (including Chris Bell's guitars). Those Pretty Wrongs features Jody on lead vocals for the first time in his career and was released in May via Ardent Music & Burger Records. Big Star's three albums, #1 Record, Radio City, and Third/Sister Lovers are absolute masterpieces and definitive must owns. This is Jody's Fidelity High: The Beatles // Meet The Beatles // Capitol Records // 1964. Jody says, "Listening to Meet the Beatles was the first time I had experienced any kind of sustained excitement from listening to anyone's music. I was 11 years old. Song after song made me feel like I'd have felt if the girl of my dreams had liked me too. There was a connection like no other."
