Musician, Idle Bloom
Katie Banyay is the bassist of the Nashville, TN-based psych-pop band Idle Bloom. The band just completed recording their debut full length LP with Kyle Gilbride of Swearin' (Waxahatchee, Girlpool) which is the follow up to their debut EP Some Paranoia, issued late last year by Theory Eight Records. In their "10 Local Acts That Ruled 2015 (and will Probably Rule Even Harder in 2016)" feature, the Nashville Scene named Idle Bloom one of Nashville's strongest exports of 2015, stating that the EP is "a retro-tastic fever dream of swirling guitarmonies and menacing melodic vocal refrains that echo over huge power-pop hooks." Idle Bloom are totally boss and this is Katie's Fidelity High: The Smashing Pumpkins // Siamese Dream // Caroline Records, Virgin Records // 1993. Katie says, "Growing up in '90s Chicago, the Smashing Pumpkins were the hometown heroes. This was the first album I chose on my own and appreciated entirely. To this day, I'm still inspired by their songwriting and musicianship. It's classic."
