Singer / Songwriter
Lindi Ortega is a Canadian Country Music Association award winning and Juno Award nominated country singer. She is set to release her new EP Til The Goin' Gets Gone next Friday, March 17th which includes three new originals and a cover of Townes Van Zandt's "Waiting 'Round To Die." Garden and Gun Magazine recently named her "one of the rising acts shaking up the country scene" and starting next Saturday night, you can catch Lindi on the road supporting Chris Stapleton's Canadian arena tour. This is Lindi's Fidelity High: Townes Van Zandt // Townes Van Zandt // Poppy Records // 1969. Lindi says "I was sitting out on my balcony at my apartment in Nashville, watching the fireflies. I thought, 'I'm going to dig into Townes Van Zandt.' I kept hearing his name on tour and people talked about him a lot, but I didn't know that much about him. I thought, 'He's got a cool name. I want to know what he's all about.' 'Waiting 'Round to Die' was the first song I heard and I was crushed! I didn't think anything was going to crush me as much as 'Folsom Prison Blues,' and then I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that's heavy!' Of course I loved it because it was so heavy and dark. Then I listened to all his other stuff. This anguish and internal heartache really makes beautiful music sometimes, you know?"
