Travis Linville

Travis Linville is a Tulsa based singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whom the Oklahoma Gazette has stated "...many consider him the Godfather of modern Oklahoma folk."   He produced John Fullbright's debut album in 2009, was a guitar instructor for a young Parker Millsap, and for the past ten years has been a sideman to Hayes Carll, who calls him "criminally underrated," stating "Travis Linville writes, plays and sings music the way it's supposed to be done.  With depth, heart and soul.  One of my all-time favorite musicians."  Travis has also performed with Willie Nelson, and Ryan Bingham, supported Merle Haggard, and Billy Joe Shaver, among others.  This year he released his fantastic new album Up Ahead.  Wide Open Country calls it "a masterclass in authentic songwriting and tasteful production," and "The record is a testament to the two decades Travis Linville spent forging a path through the Oklahoma red clay.  With Up Ahead, he makes a much anticipated arrival."  This is Travis Linville's Fidelity High:  Chet Atkins // This Is Chet Atkins // RCA Victor // 1970.  Travis says, "When I was a 6 year old kid digging through my parents record collection, my dad had a stack of Chet Atkins records that really perked my interest.  I was confused at first.  Wait, there are no words?  How does someone get that good at playing guitar?  Is that two guitars or just one?  It was one. There was something about the pure musicality of this record that drew me in and sparked my dream of being a guitar guy.  I get that same feeling of wonder when I hear it today.  This is Chet Atkins."
